A Colorful Savannah Weekend

I know I am a little late but last weekend Jackson and I went to Savannah to see the Thoesen Family while Chris was away on interviews! Molly and I  had tons of fun running the Color Vibe 5k with some of her co-workers. It was my first race since my injury and it went better than expected. I am still trying to recover slowly so I have started spinning, barre, and yoga. I am hoping that adding some variation to my routine will make me a stronger runner down the road even if it takes me a longer to run another half-marathon.

After the race!

Molly and I finally remembered to take the dogs to the fort in Savannah. Every time I visit we always discuss taking them and never do!

Say Cheese!

It was a great weekend! Hopefully Chris and I can make it down there again before we (crossing my fingers) move!

Three months ago yesterday until Match Day!! (I'm not counting or anything)

Chris is now halfway done with interviews. He takes off again today for his last week of interviews until January. Then we only have a few left! We are both ready for him to be done but are so thankful that he has had so many opportunities!

As for me, I am officially done with training for the new job. I had my first real clients on Friday and boy was I nervous! Taking a leap of faith back in August to quit a great job and pursue something from home has been one of the best decisions yet. It has opened so many doors and I pray that it gives Chris and I the flexibility that we need in the coming years!

Home Sweet Home

Well we are back from our month in Chicago. I am so sad that we had to leave. I had a fantastic month meeting new people, seeing old friends, and living my dream. I am thankful everyday that I was able to go…maybe one day we will move there…you never know!

Here are a few pictures of our studio apartment...

Sunrise
We were pretty busy our last few weeks in Chicago. My parents came in town for my birthday and we went to dinner at RPM Italian. Hands down one of the best meals ever!

Chris had a day off our last week so we decided to take a day trip over to Milwaukee! We went on a tour of Miller Brewery, had lunch at AJ Bomber's, bought local cheese, and topped of the day with frozen custard from Kopps!
Can you tell we ate/drank our way through the city?!

Second City Comedy Show
On our last day in Chicago we went ice skating! It was the perfect way to end our month!

After our 12 hour drive through seven states we finally made it back to Atlanta to see our little boy! He was so excited to see us that he rode the entire way back to Augusta in Chris's lap!

After our quick trip back to Atlanta for Thanksgiving Chris and I parted ways to travel across the country. Chris is currently away on interviews! I am so excited that they have finally started. In just a few months we will finally know where we will be living for residency! Eek!

I on the other hand took the last few days of my freedom, before I start my new job, to go see my nephew! I had a wonderful long weekend in Memphis! I can't believe he will be 6 months in just a few weeks!
Proud Mommy and Tucker after bath time!

After I returned from Memphis today to pick up Jackson from his Grandma's I ended up sitting in the driveway for 15 minutes because I could not get all 60 pounds of him out of my lap! The poor dog is ready to be home and does not want to let his parents out of his sight. Good news we will finally be settled until we move for residency.

I will officially be going back to reality tomorrow when I start training for my new job from home! I am going to be working full time as a concierge!
Fingers-crossed this job turns out to be as perfect as it sounds

Chicagoland Update

Halfway! I cannot believe that we only have two weeks left in Chicago!

Chris and I have had a couple of free days when he has been off to experience what Chicago has to offer. We took a tour of Wrigley Field and it was great. I love how Wrigley has kept the historic charm and is not like all the other professional baseball parks.

Our big event so far was attending a Chicago Bears game. It was a ton of fun even despite the windy cold weather!

The past few days have been very busy! Chris's birthday was on Friday and his parents and brother came to town to celebrate! We have had a fantastic time being tourists. Take a look at what we have done!

Navy Pier!

The Field Museum

Soldier Field Tour

The Bean/Cloud Gate

Still loving this view everyday!

Well now we are off on an architectural river cruise! My parents visit next weekend for my birthday so check back for other exciting things we have planned!

Road Trip!

Well it has been awhile since I have posted! Things have been busy between the beach, moving (multiple times), job hunting, residency applications…the list is endless!

I thought the day would never come for us to apply for residency…now it has been over a month since we applied and Chris's itinerary for the months of December and January is filled with interviews! I must say I am so relieved and excited about his interview opportunities. Match day will be here before we know it and I can honestly say I will be happy with anything we have on the list! We are still hoping for a few programs in particular to come in (fingers crossed).

We arrived in Chicago on Saturday (for Chris's second away rotation) and I must say it is everything I have dreamed of! I am so thankful to have a supportive husband who allowed me to come! It would be beyond perfect if we could have brought Jackson but he is happy and spoiled rotten in Atlanta with his grandparents!

We spent Saturday afternoon settling into our new home (all 450 sq ft) and walking around our neighborhood. We found a great sports bar, Benchmark, to watch Auburn football! Saturday evening Chris and I ventured a little further away for dinner and tried Chicago deep dish pizza at Lou Malnati's in Viagra Triangle… it was well worth the hour wait!

Our view for the next month!
Yesterday I had my first pumpkin spice latte of the season ( I was determined to wait until it felt like fall and not the 80 degree weather we had in Augusta) while we walked around Lincoln Park. It is just steps from our house and is going to be perfect for running!

Lincoln Park

Yesterday afternoon we drove out to Evanston to see the hospital where Chris started working today! Our our way home I had my first celebrity sighting probably ever and Chris would most likely agree based on my reaction! So, we had stopped at a stop sign and were allowing people to cross the street… I did a double take when they looked at us and it was Giuliana and Bill Rancic with Baby Duke! I about died. I love their show!

Now I must go plan our sightseeing adventures for the next two days while Chris is off!

One Door Closes Another Door Opens

I spent the past few days visiting wonderful friends in Montgomery while Chris was studying for Step 2 (only two more weeks left). I had a great time catching up and hearing all about how they are preparing to welcome their little one any day! We spent the weekend enjoying the pool, great food, especially Mamma G's... I still can't get over that it is a franchise... along with lots of HGTV and Batman! I cant wait to visit them again and meet A.J.!

Mamma G's
Me and Mamma to Be!

Well it's official only two more weeks until my last day at Keystone. It is bittersweet to be leaving a great company and group of co-workers after two years. If any of you know me well, you know that I have had a difficult time finding my niche in the working world after graduating from Auburn. My dream of working for a large corporation, in a big city, where I took the train to work and picked up my five dollar cup of coffee on the way did not come true. Instead, I wanted to follow my husband and support him through his journey in medical school. It has taken three years of  searching for a job that I love and have a passion for, but I think I finally found it! After much thought I have decided to turn my passion for travel into a career and become an independent cruise consultant for Cruises Inc.! So friends the next time you are in need of a vacation you know who to call! I can't wait to share my passion with you!

Whirlwind Weekend

I am shocked that its already July! It has been a few weeks since my last post but I have been busy doing what I love most... traveling!I took a spontaneous trip to Vegas (thanks to dirt cheap airfare I couldn't pass up) to visit Chris at the end of June. It was exactly what we needed. I couple of days of sun, fun, and relaxation!
At Mon Ami Gabi...One of our favorite places to eat in Vegas!
Cosmopilitan Pool with view of Plant Hollywood across the street.
After my quick 48 hour trip to Vegas Chris and I flew back to the humid and hot weather in the south to meet our nephew Tucker! We had the best time in Memphis but two days was not long enough!

Tuck  is already working on his touchdown moves...too bad he wont be saying "War Eagle!"

Tucker with Nanny and Papa!

Proud Mommy and Daddy! Love you guys!

Chris and I are now Auntie "A" and Uncle "C"
Now we are back to reality. Chris started his all day everyday studying for Step 2 of the boards this week. I know that these next few weeks are going to fly by and August 11th is going to be here before we know it!

One Year To Go!

Well three years of medical school are complete and only one more to go! Chris finished up his third year of medical school on Emergency Medicine. I would say the month was a success. He did an excellent job and ended the rotation knowing he chose the right career. Chris is off celebrating the end of the year on his annual WSOP trip in Las Vegas! I will be overjoyed if this year goes as well as it went last year! Today he was able to squeeze in golf with a couple of his friends prior to kicking off his week at the WSOP.

Other exciting news….my sister had her little bundle of joy! Chris and I will be in Memphis this coming weekend to meet Tucker Joseph! I can't wait to meet my nephew!
