Match 2013

Well Match 2013 has come and gone and I am not going to lie Match Day was not the day we had imagined.

Leading up to Match Day I gave Chris a small gift everyday with his last gift being a surprise trip to Vegas! We can't seem to let a year go by without going to Vegas and this year we were about to. Now we will be taking a long weekend trip in June to celebrate his medical school graduation with some of our closest friends! We are so excited!

Waldo, Wenda, and Woof!
Jackson was a pretty good sport about his costume!
Match morning we had a pot luck breakfast at our friends house to gear up for big event! It was a great morning spent with friends while we all eagerly waited for 12PM to arrive.

With the host and hostess!

After arriving early to get seats and see everyone it was 12PM before we knew it! After a brief harlem shake introduction it was time for the names to be drawn. Chris was called at the beginning and that is where our  day went downhill... He matched and we are so thankful that Chris matched in a specialty that he wanted but in hindsight we did not prepare ourselves for what was to come on Match Day. Throughout the interview process Chris was extremely fortunate to get tons of interviews, we were able to choose which ones to go on, and we loved so many programs that we had a hard time making our rank list. We took for granted how competitive Emergency Medicine has become and had our hearts set on our top choices. Unfortunately we did not match at those schools and that was hard to accept. Instead we matched here in Augusta...

There will be no selling the house, house hunting in our new city, and moving to start a new adventure together. Instead we will be staying here in Augusta for another three years and I know that it is all going to work out for the best. I am grateful that some of our closest friends will also be staying for their residencies.

I know these next three years are going to be exiciting, Chris will receive excellent training at a hospital where he already knows people and enjoys working with them on a daily basis. He is going to excel at what he does best and maybe one day after residency we will get our adventure.

This is Chris' last week of medical school. His last day of training is on Thursday! It is crazy to think that in just a few short weeks he will graduate but first we have one last celebration, Doctor Prom on Friday!
