Memorial Weekend

The end of 3rd year is insight! Chris begins his last rotation of the year tomorrow!

We have spent our three day weekend relaxing! I live for weekends after a shelf exams because that means we finally get to spend quality time together with minimal school work creeping its way in…

Friday night we started off the weekend with Mexican and going to the local Greenjackets baseball game to celebrate our friend's birthdays!

Saturday after our morning errands we headed over to Aiken to walk around downtown. We arrived just in time for their Memorial Day parade and free ice cream!

Sunday we were really adventurous and we went to Columbia for the day! We went to the Riverbanks Zoo and had a great time.

The highlight of the trip to the zoo was feeding the giraffes!

After the Zoo we went to the Flying Saucer. They had hundreds of beers on tap and bottled from around the world. We decided to try local South Carolina beers!

Today was our last day of relaxation before we set back into reality. Chris will be on Emergency Medicine for the next month. This is his month to shine since it is his only Emergency Medicine rotation at MCG. I know he is going to do great! These next few weeks are going to fly by not only because Chris is working almost every day but because I am going to be an aunt in about two weeks and cannot wait to see my nephew at the end of the month!

Me and Mommy to be!

And The Countdown Begins

Its hard to believe that in 365 days we will know where we have matched and graduation will FINALLY arrive!! To think that my husband and I began this medical school journey almost 3 years ago is crazy! Those three years have had their ups and downs but time sure has flown.

In one year we will know where we will begin our next step in this journey…Residency. We will have found Chris's name on the Match List and this dream that seems so far away just might become a reality.

Almost 9 years ago I first heard Chris say he wanted to be a doctor and I cannot wait to be by his side in three hundred and sixty five days when it becomes a reality.

While I sit here and dream of the future there are a few things to be checked off the list first.

1. Away Rotations- Partially complete. Applications in, accepted two aways, now to find housing arrangements!
2. Step 2 - Study, Study, Study!
3. Apply for Residency…oh wait... first we have to decide where we are going to apply!
4. Interviews
5. The Waiting Game

Now where are those aways?? Atlanta and Chicago! Atlanta is going to be wonderful since we will be closer to friends and family but... I am even more excited about the upcoming Chicago rotation in October! I am thrilled that I will finally get to visit Chicago!

Any recommendations on things to do and see in Chicago?
